The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) collects information needed to understand the Nation's water resources, and provides access to water data, publications, and maps, as well as to recent water projects and events.

The Wetlands Reserve Program is a voluntary program offering landowners the opportunity to protect, restore, and enhance wetlands on their property. The purpose of the Emergency Watershed Protection (EWP) program is to undertake emergency measures if anything is causing or has caused a sudden impairment of the watershed.

The Upper Colorado Region (Region 4) became headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah and initially included southwest Wyoming, Colorado west of the Continental Divide, the state of Utah, and small portions of Arizona and New Mexico, and later expanded to include New Mexico and Texas west of the Pecos River. In addition to project planning, public and water-user relations, and supervision of project operation and maintenance, regional offices also negotiate power contracts in accord with the policies of the Interior Department's Power Division, coordination of construction projects with other Reclamation operations, and general administration of regional and project organizations and programs.
