Well Inspection Program 

The well inspection program was instituted for the protection of the ground water resources and public health through enforcement of minimum well construction and pump installation standards. The program was created under Senate Bill 03-045. The objective of the program is to deal with the following concerns:

  • Enforcement of the existing Colorado Revised Statutes and Rules and Regulations for Well Construction and Pump Installation
  • Well construction and pump installation inspection
  • Complaint investigation
  • Education and outreach
  • Monitoring/observation hole/well construction
  • Well and hole plugging and abandonment
  • Board of Examiners support

The Well Inspection Program currently has five inspectors including the chief well inspector. The inspectors are currently based out of Denver, Glenwood Springs, Alamosa and Durango.
