AQUIFERS: Includes Denver Basin Aquifer, Fountain Aquifer, and Valley Fill Aquifer (Arkansas River).


DESIGNATED BASINS AND MANAGEMENT DISTRICTS: Designated Basins refer to several geographic areas between the front-range and the state's eastern border where ground water has been determined to be Designated Ground Water. There are eight: Upper Black Squirrel Creek, Upper Big Sandy, Upper Crow Creek, Lost Creek, Camp Creek, Kiowa Bijou, Northern High Plains, and Southern High Plains. A Management District is an area within a designated basin formed by action of the Colorado Ground Water Commission and is managed by a board of directors. There are thirteen: Central Yuma, Marks Butte, Frenchman, W-Y, Sand Hills, Plains, East Cheyenne, Southern High Plains, Upper Black Squirrel Creek, North Kiowa Bijou, Lost Creek, Arikaree, and Big Sandy.


DISTRICT BOUNDARIES: District boundaries are administrative boundaries set by the State Engineer, which are based primarily on stream drainage systems. There are 78 Districts.


DIVISION BOUNDARIES: District boundaries are administrative boundaries set by the State Engineer, which are based primarily on stream drainage systems. There are 7 Divisions, South Platte River Basin, Arkansas River Basin, Rio Grand Basin, Gunnison River Basin, Colorado River Basin, Yampa / White River Basins, and Dolores / San Juan River Basins.


DRG (Digital Raster Graphics): DRGs or USGS topographic maps are available for free at http://datagateway.nrcs.usda.gov/ . Please refer to the Data GateWay website's FAQ tab for further assistance.


WATER BODIES: Includes Lakes, Reservoirs, etc. taken from 1:100,000 DLGs.


RIVERS STATEWIDE: Includes Statewide Rivers and Streams taken from 1:100,000 DLGs.
